The Bible says that a major portion of the Lost Ten Tribes will be in the Isles of the Sea. This means lands to the West of the Land of Israel. It referred mainly to the British Isles.
"I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the ISLES afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock" (Jeremiah 31: 9-10).
"Listen 0 ISLES unto me. Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified... to bring Jacob again unto him... to raise up the tribes of Jacob... a covenant of the people [in Hebrew: "Brit-am"] to establish the earth... to inherit the desolate heritages... these from the north and the west; and these from the land of Sinim" (Isaiah 49:1 6).
"The name of the Lord God of Israel in the ISLES of the sea" (Isaiah 24:15).
"The ISLES shall wait for his law" (Isaiah 42:4).
"Hearken unto me, MY PEOPLE...O my nation...mine arms shall judge the people, the ISLES shall wait upon me" (Isaiah 51:4-5).
"Surely the ISLES shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far" (Isaiah 60:9).
The West
The Lost Ten Tribes in the End Time will be mainly situated to the west of the Land of Israel.
The exiles would be taken to the west (Isaiah 11:11).
[Isaiah 24:14]
"THEY SHALL LIFT UP THEIR VOICE; THEY SHALL SING FOR THE MAJESTY OF THE LORD, THEY SHALL CRY ALOUD FROM THE SEA."
FROM THE SEA: In Hebrew the word for sea is "yam" which also can mean from the west. The Aramaic and Commentators say it means the exiles will be in the west in the last Days. Then it goes on to speak of Britain.
[Isaiah 24:15]
"WHEREFORE GLORIFY YE THE LORD IN THE FIRES, EVEN THE NAME OF THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL IN THE ISLES OF THE SEA."
Hosea also speaks of Ephraim in the End Times as being found primarily in the West:
[Hosea 11:9] I WILL NOT EXECUTE THE FIERCENESS OF MINE ANGER, I WILL NOT RETURN TO DESTROY EPHRAIM: FOR I AM GOD, AND NOT MAN; THE HOLY ONE IN THE MIDST OF THEE: AND I WILL NOT ENTER INTO THE CITY.
God will not destroy Ephraim but neither will HE enter (cause HIS presence to be felt) into any other city apart from Jerusalem (Saadia, Iben Ezra).
[Hosea 11:10] THEY SHALL WALK AFTER THE LORD: HE SHALL ROAR LIKE A LION: WHEN HE SHALL ROAR, THEN THE CHILDREN SHALL TREMBLE FROM THE WEST.
The Exiles in the West shall be gathered together to return (Targum Yehonatan).
[Hosea 11:11] THEY SHALL TREMBLE AS A BIRD OUT OF EGYPT, AND AS A DOVE OUT OF THE LAND OF ASSYRIA: AND I WILL PLACE THEM IN THEIR HOUSES, SAITH THE LORD.
Like a bird from the west (Egypt) and like a dove from the North (Assyria) the Exiles will return.
[Hosea 11:12] EPHRAIM COMPASSETH ME ABOUT WITH LIES, AND THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL WITH DECEIT: BUT JUDAH YET RULETH WITH GOD, AND IS FAITHFUL WITH THE SAINTS.
Ephraim goes away from the Torah yet Judah remains faithful
[Hosea 12:1] EPHRAIM FEEDETH ON WIND, AND FOLLOWETH AFTER THE EAST WIND: HE DAILY INCREASETH LIES AND DESOLATION; AND THEY DO MAKE A COVENANT WITH THE ASSYRIANS, AND OIL IS CARRIED INTO EGYPT.
Here Ephraim is described as being driven by an east wind which from the east blows westward.
[Hosea 12:2] THE LORD HATH ALSO A CONTROVERSY WITH JUDAH, AND WILL PUNISH JACOB ACCORDING TO HIS WAYS; ACCORDING TO HIS DOINGS WILL HE RECOMPENSE HIM.
We see that both Isaiah and Hosea speak of the exiled Ten Tribes of Israel (represented by "Ephraim" in Hosea) as being in the West in the End Times.
The Ten Tribes in the West Summarized:
The Prophet Hosea speaks of Ephraim in the End Times as being found primarily in the West.
The Almighty says that Ephraim will not be destroyed (Hosea 11:9). The Exiles in the West will gather together to return (Hosea 11:1); The exiles who had initially been taken to Egypt and Assyria will return (Hosea 11:11). Though Ephraim will have adopted a false religion, Judah will remain faithful to the Faith of the Forefathers (Hosea 11:12). Ephraim will be like an eastwind which means a wind blowing from the east to the west (Hosea 12:1). This is a mistake. It is a turning away from the source.
One of the places Isaiah lists as those were the Ten Tribes were take to is the Isles of the Sea meaning in Hebrew those of the West (Isaiah 11:11).
Isaiah speaks of the Exiles of Israel being located in the West (Isaiah 24:14) and in the Isles of the Sea (Isaiah 24:15).

Northwest from the land of Israel
Isaiah says (49:8) that the exiled of Israel will be preserved and become a covenant of people (in Hebrew a Brit-Am), who will establish the world and inherit wasted heritages. They will use released prisoners to colonize these heritages (49:9), as the British did at first in North America and Australia. They shall return from the north and from the west, and from the land of Sinim.

"BEHOLD, THESE SHALL COME FROM FAR: AND, LO, THESE FROM THE NORTH AND FROM THE WEST; AND THESE FROM THE LAND OF SINIM".
<<THE NORTH AND FROM THE WEST>>: This presupposes North-West from the Land of Israel. We have seen that they will return from the West. Other verses show they will come from the North. Here we have north and west together indicating northwest. The main directions are north, northwest, and west. Australia (Sinim) is in the southeast.

The North Country:
The Lost Ten Tribes will also return from the North which is a major center of theirs. Barry Fell claimed that the Phoenicians referred to North America as the Great North Land. The Phoenicians at one stage included members of Ancient Israelite Tribes in their ranks.
[Jeremiah 3:11]
"AND THE LORD SAID UNTO ME, THE BACKSLIDING ISRAEL HATH JUSTIFIED HERSELF MORE THAN TREACHEROUS JUDAH."
Jeremiah at one level is speaking of the situation in his own time. The Israelite Exiles as part of the Scythian forces did succeed in breaking the yoke of the Assyrian Empire and providing assistance to Judah under King Josiah the son of Amon. On another level Jeremiah is referring to the Messianic Era and the period leading up to it: Meaning (it would seem) our own time. The task of Judah was to keep the Law and to develop it. Judah did this but perhaps not as well and as fully as it should have.
The task of Israel (The Lost Ten Tribes) was that of a nation: they were to reform the Gentile peoples from within and elevate them; to establish a sense of justice and order in the world; to help others; to set up governmental systems and social values that would serves as examples to others; they were also supposed to protect Judah and assist Judah to return to the Land of Canaan and set up the State of Israel therein. All of these tasks were basically achieved to a degree. They are also judged according to the surroundings and jumping-off point they were started off upon.
[Jeremiah 3:12]
"GO AND PROCLAIM THESE WORDS TOWARD THE NORTH, AND SAY, RETURN, THOU BACKSLIDING ISRAEL, SAITH THE LORD; AND I WILL NOT CAUSE MINE ANGER TO FALL UPON YOU: FOR I AM MERCIFUL, SAITH THE LORD, AND I WILL NOT KEEP ANGER FOR EVER".
<<THE NORTH>>: Most of the Lost Ten Tribes are in the North when the Land of Israel is taken as the reference point. They are being called upon to repent.
[Jeremiah 3:13]
"ONLY ACKNOWLEDGE THINE INIQUITY, THAT THOU HAST TRANSGRESSED AGAINST THE LORD THY GOD, AND HAST SCATTERED THY WAYS TO THE STRANGERS UNDER EVERY GREEN TREE, AND YE HAVE NOT OBEYED MY VOICE, SAITH THE LORD".
The Lost Ten Tribes relatively speaking may have fulfilled at least part of the task that was laid upon them but they are still lacking. They must repent of their idolatry.
[Jeremiah 3:14]
"TURN, O BACKSLIDING CHILDREN, SAITH THE LORD; FOR I AM MARRIED UNTO YOU: AND I WILL TAKE YOU ONE OF A CITY, AND TWO OF A FAMILY, AND I WILL BRING YOU TO ZION:"
<<ZION>>: Represents Jerusalem: Initially a token number will be pioneers and return to re-unite with Judah. Later the majority will follow and inherit their own territories in the Middle East and region.
[Jeremiah 3:18]
" IN THOSE DAYS THE HOUSE OF JUDAH SHALL WALK WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL, AND THEY SHALL COME TOGETHER OUT OF THE LAND OF THE NORTH TO THE LAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN FOR AN INHERITANCE UNTO YOUR FATHERS".
The Midrash says:
Solomon 1;16). Israel says: Behold thou art fair, my love When you will take retribution from the worshippers of idols. Yea pleasant when you pay the reward of those who fear you. Also our bed: These are the Ten Tribes. [In Hebrew bed is eres while ten is eser and uses the same letters, and our bed (erseynu) sounds like our ten (esereynu).] They are those who were exiled beyond the Sambation River. The exiles of Judah and Benyamin [i.e. the present-day Jews] are destined to go unto them and bring them back in order to merit with them the Messianic Era and life in the World-To-Come. This is as it says, In those days the house of Judah shall go unto the house of Israel and they shall come together out of the land of the north unto the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers (Jeremiah 3;18). -Yalkut Shimeoni, Song of Solomon 905.
The verse (Jeremiah 3:18) should be read according to the above as: THE HOUSE OF JUDAH SHALL GO UNTO [rather than WALK WITH] THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. People from Judah and Benjamin (i.e. legal Jews) shall go unto the Lost Ten Tribes who are beyond the Sambation River. In our works (Ephraim and the Tribes) we explained that the Sambation River means Israelite Exiles who migrated to the west. The simple meaning is that Jews from Judah will go unto the Lost Tribes to bring them back. It could be said that the Jewish members of Brit-Am Israel is doing this to some degree.
There is an additional explanation.
Captive Jews
Since beginning this project and making contact with numerous people who are interested in the subject and studying it we have noticed an interesting phenomenon. Many non-Jews (Gentiles) who agree with us that the Lost Ten Tribes are in the West and feel an inner urge to learn this message and in some cases help spread it also believe they have Jewish origins. Sometimes this belief of Jewish origins is based on known facts concerning one or other of their ancestors. In other cases the feeling of Jewish origins is based on flimsy evidence but nevertheless the feeling exists. Such feelings do not appear from nowhere and probably derive from an inner awareness of their true ancestry. The people in question are often those who are now helping spread knowledge and attitudes that will lead to the Return of the Lost Ten Tribes. The role of these people in future will increase. These Lost Jews are also fulfilling the Prophecy of Jeremiah (3:18). They have gone out from Judah to Israel and they are beginning to bring Israel back from the Land of the North. We refer to these people as Captive Jews though Lost Jews may be more appropriate. We used the term Captive Jews (rather than Assimilated Jews or something similar) since in many cases Jews were forced or heavily pressured to change their religion and cease being Jewish against their will. Descendants of these Lost Jews or Captive Jews are often the leaders who are bringing their fellow Captive Jews as well as the Lost Tribes back to their source.

They will be mostly to the North of the Land of Israel but also in other places.

<<I AM A FATHER TO ISRAEL, AND EPHRAIM IS MY FIRSTBORN>>: God will return and acknowledge the Lost Ten Tribes as His people alongside Judah. This will be known to all. The Lost Ten Tribes will no longer be lost. At present they are Lost: Most of them are not aware of their true Israelite identity and this identity is not known to others.

Zebulon (the Dutch) and the Sea-Shores
Shores of the Sea
Isaiah speaks of sea-goers:
[Isaiah 42:10]
"SING UNTO THE LORD A NEW SONG, AND HIS PRAISE FROM THE END OF THE EARTH, YE THAT GO DOWN TO THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS THEREIN; THE ISLES, AND THE INHABITANTS THEREOF".
The Lost Ten Tribes had to be a sea-faring nation or include sea-farers as we have seen. We shall also note the connection of The Lost Ten Tribes with Tarshish and with ships plying the Atlantic Ocean, and of Israelites being in "many water".
In addition to the above we have the fact that specific tribes were also described as sea-goers.
Dan was referred to as someone who dwells in ships.
[Judges 5:17]
"AND WHY DID DAN REMAIN IN SHIPS? ASHER CONTINUED ON THE SEA SHORE, AND ABODE IN HIS BREACHES".
In the Hebrew it says that Dan dwelt in ships. The point about Asher as dwelling on the sea-shore and "in his breaches [Hebrew: "Mifratsav"] may also be understood to say that Asher dwelt on his sailing boats. We will speak more on this elsewhere. In our book "Lost Israelite Identity" we have a whole chapter dedicated to the seafaring activities of the Ancient Israelites and several more chapters that discuss aspects related to this kind of activity.
Concerning Zebulon it was prophesied:
[Genesis 49:13]
"ZEBULUN SHALL DWELL AT THE HAVEN OF THE SEA; AND HE SHALL BE FOR AN HAVEN OF SHIPS; AND HIS BORDER SHALL BE UNTO ZIDON".
Zebulon settled in the Netherlands [Holland], see The Tribes. The expression translated above (from the KJ) as "THE HAVEN OF THE SEA" in Hebrew is "Chof [pronounced as "Hof"] Yamim" meaning at the seashores or at the shore of the seas. I/3 of Holland is below sea-level, another 1/3 is subject to periodic sea-flooding, i.e. 2/3 of the country needs protection (in the form of dykes, dams, etc) from sea-inundation, i.e. they are dwelling on the shores of the sea. This is the only country in the world where this holds true. In Ancient Times a people recorded by Ptolemy called Sabulingoi dwelt in the region of Northern Holland-Frisia. "Sabulingoi" in Hebrew means "People of Zebulon". Northern peoples at that time switched "s" for "z". Other peoples who settled in the area bore names similar to those of clans of Zebulon (Sered, Elon, Yahleel) recorded in the Bible. Accepting the fact that Zebulon settled in Holland and that many of the Dutch descend from Zebulon entails recognition of their kinfolk (such as the Angles) as being of similar Israelite origin.

AND THE CAPTIVITY OF THIS HOST OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL SHALL POSSESS THAT OF THE CANAANITES, EVEN UNTO ZAREPHATH; AND THE CAPTIVITY OF JERUSALEM, WHICH IS IN SEPHARAD, SHALL POSSESS THE CITIES OF THE SOUTH.
According to the Commentators, in the above verse Canaanites means Germany, Zarephath means France, or France and Britain, or France and the region to the north of France, or all of the said areas together. Sepharad means Spain. The verse should be rendered from the Hebrew original and in accordance with the Major Commentators as the following:

Taking the Classical Commentators as a whole we see that the Lost Ten Tribes were considered to be in the west, especially in France and Britain. According to the Geneva Bible of Calvin on Obadiah 1:20:
"By the Canaanites, the Jews mean the Dutchmen, and by Zarephath, France, and by Sepharad, Spain."
At all events Zarephath meant France (Rashi) and the north or France and Britain (Abarbanel) together. The verse was understood as saying that the Lost Ten tribes were in Zarephath (Rashi, Nachmanides).

Britain, North America, and Australia
Isaiah says (49:8) that the exiled of Israel will be preserved and become a covenant of people (in Hebrew 'a Brit-Am'), who will establish the world and inherit wasted heritages. They will use released prisoners to colonize these heritages (49:9), as the British did at first in North America and Australia. They shall return from the north and from the west, and from the land of Sinim. That this passage is referring to the Lost Ten Tribes is confirmed by the Talmud and midrashim.
The Midrash Speaks of Isaiah and the Ten Tribes
The Rabbis (Numbers Rabah 1;6, Eichah Rabah 2;9, Jerusalemi Sanhedrin ch.17, L.6,29) agreed that Isaiah 49 was referring to the Lost Ten Tribes. They quoted Isaiah 49 and said that there were three major areas to which the Lost Ten Tribes went: One to beyond the Sambation River, one to Daphneh of Antiochia, and one to where the Clouds came down and covered them.
Sinim is interpreted to mean Land of the South in the Aramaic Translation. In the Vulgate Latin version of the Bible which was translated by Jerome after consulting with Jewish sages, the Land of Sinim is rendered as Australia. The term Australia in Latin means Land of the South. The Egyptians referred to the southernmost known area of land as sin-wur. This corresponds to the Land of Sinim meaning Australia. There are reports of Egyptian and Phoenician remains being found in Australia. Pomponius Mela in ca. 40 CE reported the "Terra Australis Incognito" or "Unknown South Land" and maps based on his description show the location of Australia. Craig White in his book (In Search of &The Origin of Nations) has an interesting chapter discussing the possibility that the Australian Aborigines originally came from Egypt and then branched out some going to South America, others to India (the Veddic peoples) and Australia. [White's suggestions that some Aborigines also went to South America has just been confirmed by archaeological finds of an ancient population with skeletons similar to those of the Australian aborigines in Baju Province, Mexico.] At all events one of the most famous and most admired (in Australia) Australian Prime Ministers was Billy Hughes who believed that British-related peoples descended from the Ten Tribes of Israel. Australian and New Zealand Troops liberated the Holy Land in the First World War.
Another sign concerning the Lost Ten Tribes is that they should be at the ends of the earth. Australia and New Zealand are about as much at the end of the earth (when considered with the Land of Israel as the center) as you can get. Australian and New Zealand also fulfill most of the other criteria and proofs we adduce.

The Rabbinical Biblical Commentator Malbim says that Brit-Am means Israel.
This is why we chose "Brit-Am" for the name of our organization. Brit-Am represents the Lost Ten Tribes returning. Other reasons were that Brit-Am hints at Britain from whom many of those to whom we direct our message originate. Our friend Cecil Davis pointed out that Brit-Am can also be understand as a shortened way of saying Britain and America.

A Midrash (repeated at least eight times in early Talmudic and Midrashic sources) speaks of Isaiah 49:6 as referring to the Lost Ten Tribes and their places of exile and links Isaiah 49:21 to this phenomenon and the reaction of Judah when Judah begins to realize who the present day Lost Ten Tribes are. The Midrash understands from the verse that until that time Judah will not have been aware of who their Lost Tribal brothers are! We discussed this in "Ephraim" and additional sources that we have since been made aware of have confirmed our conclusions.
The term "Brit-Am" is pertinent to Britain and America. Taken together with all the other indicators we may conclude that here too is confirmatory evidence for the Lost Ten Tribes today being found as distinctly recognizable entities only in Western Nations.

Judah: Affinity with the Jews. : This entails proven feelings of kinship and sympathy with the Jews and a Relative Lack of Anti-Semitism when compared with others. This holds true even though Prophecy (Isaiah 11:13) also indicates that a certain degree of tension would always exist almost to the end betweeen "Ephraim" and Judah.
Originality: Innovation and Intellect: A minimal degree of national Intellectual Wisdom and Honesty, cf. Deuteronomy 4:6.
Bravery: Proven Military Prowess in the past at least and at present in potential, see Deuteronomy 33:29.

Israelite Self-Identification
Israelite Identification, means that in some way a significant (more often in quality rather than in numbers) portion of the peoples concerned at some stage or other to a degree are known to have identified themselves as Hebraic.
This holds in many cases but not in all of them.
Examples:
The USA had its own Israelite-identifying groups such as the early Puritans, some of the Founding Fathers, the Mormons, and numerous others, in fact within the whole structure of American religion especially of the Fundamentalist variety there have been such tendencies.

The Danes also had an Israelite tradition and identified strongly with Jews at time of need.

France: Protestant French (Huguenots) identified with Israel. Periods of identification with Jews. Feeling amongst intellectuals of Gaul having had a Semitic (Hebrew) origin. Much of French History may even be seen as a struggle between the Hebraic and the non-Hebraic elements and sentiment.
Switzerland: Hebraic Calvinists. Some very moderated Hebraic feeling throughout.
Family Connection: The identified group should have proven "ethnic" links to at least one of the other identified groups so that the proofs of one may be applied to the other.
Tribal Affiliation: The Exiled Israelites were destined to settle in groups retaining much of their original Tribal cohesion or later through some kind of "homing" instinct members of the same Tribe tended to converge together. See Isaiah 11:12 and the Midrash. We should therefore be able to at least tentatively identify specific national groups with specific Israelite Tribes and show how the Tribal Characteristics came through.

ANCESTRY: Do you have Jewish ancestors or those who were probably Israelites according to Brit-Am and related research findings?
If you do not have such ancestry or are not sure would you be prepared to totally and irrevocably identify as an Israelite?
If you do not have such ancestry or are not sure would you be prepared to totally and irrevocably identify as an Israelite?
SCRIPTURE: Do you believe in the Bible? Would you be prepared to keep Biblical Laws IF you were convinced at any stage that the Bible requires you to do so?
SOCIAL SURROUNDINGS: Do you now live amongst people of Brit-Am Israelite or Jewish origin and do you identify with them and on the whole are accepted by them? At the least do you wish to live amongst such people?
PHILO-JUDAIC: Are you pro-Jewish? At the least do you reject anti-Semitism and even feel offended by it? Would you like to see a union between "Israel" and Judah?
GOOD QUALITIES: These are based on

MERCY: Do you feel sympathy for others? Do you believe in social justice? Do you try to take account of the sensitivities of others?
ALTRUISM: KINDNESS: Are you kind to others? At the least do you feel that needless suffering should not be inflicted on others but rather where possible good be done unto them?
MODESTY: Are you prepared to do good and act worthily even though you may receive no reward or recognition and perhaps even suffer because of it?
FAMILY: If you fulfill the above requirements do some members of your family now or in the past also share the said sentiments and qualities?
Please Note: It is obvious that if someone is of Israelite descent (point 2 above) they are Israelite whether or not they fulfill any of the other listed points. The criteria however may be useful for those who are not certain or cannot provide evidence that is satisfactory from the viewpoint of others.
(b) Can I marry a Jew if I am non-Jewish but Israelite?
No. The Lost Ten tribes had their identity suspended (see Hosea 1:9, Jeremiah 3:8) temporarily in the religious sense in order to release them from the consequences of not keeping the Law and the obligation of keeping it. In the Messianic Era however they will return and things will be as they previously were.
